If there was ever a time for liberals to question their slavish bond with Democrat failure, this is it. Clearly Baltimore has not learned the lessons of Detroit, New Orleans (remember Katrina) or the entire state of liberal California.

Baltimore, the latest monument to failure and lawlessness, is a city long run by Democrats. It has been serving that sentence for nearly half a century.

The residents of Baltimore, 60% black, keep voting Democrat regardless of the inevitable letdown. President Obama won over 87% the city’s vote in 2012 after four years in office, a term not drenched in success.

Across the Baltimore landscape, from the mayor and Police Commissioner, to the city council, unions and school board, black, Democrat leaders are in charge. The state of Maryland has had only two Republican governors in the last 46 years.

Sandtown-Winchester, life-long home to deceased Freddie Gray, is an area of poverty, drugs and violence. The unemployment rate is 51% with 60% of the population having no high school diploma.

Democrat Congressman Elijah Cummings has represented Baltimore for over three decades. What has he accomplished for his city in thirty plus years at the trough?

What has created the problems in Democrat controlled Baltimore? The liberal way is the path to Utopia is it not?

Well, to begin, society isn’t strengthened by an abundance of government nor does it crumble from too little government. It breaks down in equal measure to the breakdown of the family. Dependency follows and so begins the downward spiral.

Government cannot replace a father, is no substitute for the family and is incapable of solving society’s problems. Fathers and family matter. Liberals claim otherwise but facts don’t lie. Power hungry politicians do.

When the population becomes overly dependent, it becomes equally complacent, and frankly, too stupid to understand that political promises come at a steep price. They never achieve the promised outcome. If you don’t care about political incompetence and corruption, your precincts are not going to prosper. It’s that simple.

The only way for the Baltimores of America to recover their dignity is to reject the lie of the progressive left that more federal money, more government programs and more political interference is the panacea.

If great transfers of wealth had ever benefited the masses, the left would be trumpeting their success from the rooftops. They aren’t.

The citizens of Baltimore must demand the resignation of their intelligence challenged mayor. No one in their right mind orders the police to stand down and become targets for rocks and bottles thrown by street punks and arsonists. What an incredible humiliation for those officers.

Instead of asking Maryland’s Governor to rush in the National Guard, thereby preventing the looting and burning, the mayor said, according to a senior police source, “Let them loot, it’s only property.”

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake chose to give “those who wished to destroy space to do that.”

The mayor’s defenders are claiming she misspoke, we misheard, someone misremembered and somewhere there’s a partridge in a pear tree. The truth is she said what she said.

Her incompetency seriously hurt the residents and business owners of Baltimore. Mayor Rawlings-Blake is in over her head. The people deserve better.

Community leaders who care about their city more than their position must unite to defeat the failed thinking of the left. Parents and perpetrators must be held accountable. Those criminals who looted, burned, ruined lives and humiliated their city were not thinking about Freddie Gray. They were thinking about themselves and how much they could steal.

It’s quite likely many of them never even heard of Freddie Gray.
