The tide has turned for Barack Obama. The ill equipped saviour’s lack of credentials went mostly unchallenged during his first red carpet race for power. But the rose, now minus the bloom, has revealed an abundance of thorns, leading some on the left to no longer feel that tingle up their collective leg every time he speaks. A growing number of liberals grudgingly admit their God-like myth has morphed into another flawed human being, disappointing at best.
Could this disappointment angle be another right wing conspiracy as once claimed by Hillary in defense of her meal ticket . . . . sorry . . . her husband, the former philanderer-in-chief? Did Fox News join with conservative talk radio to spread lies about Obama as they are so frequently and unjustly accused of doing?
No, not even close.
Aaron David Miller wrote in the Washington Post of Obama -the disappointer in chief. Michael Moore believes Barack Obama is “a huge disappointment”. Paul Stoller echoed that same sentiment in the Huffington Post and a CBS News/New York Times poll showed most Americans are disappointed in Obama’s presidency.
How much worse can it get? Is everyone cast down over the Messiah?
Thankfully, no. Not everyone was hoodwinked by the smooth talker with theoretical answers and no reasoned clue.
Conservatives aren’t disappointed in the Teleprompter President. We listened as he campaigned in 2008. We trusted his word that electing him would “fundamentally transform the United States”. He preached it five days before the Nov. 4 election. We knew to expect vastly over-reaching government, business impeding regulations and a less safe America. We knew that bi-partisanship would barely see the light of day in an Obama presidency. We knew that all the hoopla about the stimulus creating jobs was bull since, in the real world, governments do not create jobs.
So . . . disappointed? Are you kidding?
Who could possibly be disappointed at how the Affordable Care Act has performed? From disastrous rollout to the plethora of lies and distortions about keeping your insurance plan and your doctor, $2,500 a year savings, greater coverage for more people without incurring extra debt, all foretold to the masses by conservative voices doing the job the mainstream media refused to do.
You can bet ISIS isn’t disappointed in this lead from behind president. What raving, parasitic, lunatic terrorist wouldn’t appreciate a president who repeatedly states what he will not do to end your murderous rampage?
Syria’s President Assad may have experienced a millisecond of trepidation when he crossed Obama’s red line on chemical weapons but, whew . . . . what a relief – Obama didn’t mean it. In fact, the American Emperor actually claimed that he did not, in August of 2012, say in part, “. . . . a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized.”
Vladimir Putin isn’t down on O. Vlad must have grinned from ear to ear when a hot mic caught Barack telling Russian President Dmitry Medvedev he’d have “more flexibility” after the next US election, something the New York Times referred to as Obama’s private moment of political candor. That’s an interesting take on Obama’s nudge, nudge, wink, wink to the Russians.
So liberals, look on the bright side. Barack Obama was open about what he would do and, for the most part, he’s done it.
As for any disappointment, I’m aiming mine at those who believed Obama could or would benefit America.
