The American Center for Law and Justice is heading to court for one of the worthiest of causes. They plan to take a stand against the illegal activities of the US federal government. The ACLJ is filing a law suit on behalf of organizations targeted for their political position by the IRS, the most feared federal agency in the United States.
To be clear, we are talking about Barack Obama’s IRS.
The court challenge represents at least forty one conservative and Tea Party groups whose members are patriots, each believing in the American way, the Constitution and freedom of speech. What happened to them at the hands of power mad, Obama pleasing, white collar hooligans is beyond the understanding of those who believe in traditional American values like free speech and the right to function without fear of government intimidation.
The purposed actions of the IRS agents were unconstitutional and overflowing with menace because of an opposing political belief.
This entire scandal brings to mind Hitler’s Brown Shirts whose purpose was to disrupt the activities of any opposition and focus particularly on intimidating Jews. Likewise the IRS focused on conservatives and acted repeatedly to disrupt their political activities when they applied for tax exempt status as allowed by law. After these groups were red flagged, they were harassed with reams of letters and forms not sent to liberal groups. Their applications were repeatedly held up and intrusive demands were made for more information on group members.
Daily Caller political reporter Carolyn May, in her most recent column, wrote of IRS requests for “donor lists, Internet passwords & user names, copies of social media activities and the political activities of family members.” Iowa pro-life group Coalition for Life was asked by the IRS to, “Please detail the content of the members of your organizations prayers.”
This is happening in the land of the free and is cause for much more than simple concern. Government attacks on citizen groups who act on their political beliefs is reason enough to fear for the future of America.
While Barack Obama’s fingerprints will never be found on any decision to mangle his opposition, the fact remains that conservative & Tea Party groups were a non-factor in the last election. If a group cannot give a tax receipt, they cannot raise the necessary funds to partake in the political process. That directly impacts the outcome of elections.
The original White House claim of two rogue agents in Cincinnati has been debunked and only provides more insight into the depths this pathetic administration will sink to in order to win. The rule of law means nothing when their political power is on the line.
At the best of times there is never any love lost between the overburdened tax payer and the Infernal Revenue Service but, taxes are admittedly a necessary evil. No right thinking American would argue that point. However, now that the agency charged with collecting the required revenue has proven it has no respect for the law and no respect for the citizenry, one cannot help but think it is time to scrap the outdated method of taxation and collection. Begin anew with a fair and sensible tax code and a collection agency that is efficient, trust worthy and not run by politically prejudiced hacks.
Based on their history of sins it is time to be fully rid of the IRS.
